Along with the rapid evolving world, people‘s idea about talent is also changing. Nowadays, more and more attention is focused on people’s EQ, rather than people’s IQ. To keep up with modern and advanced idea, Engineering Faculty of NUS, which is ranked among the top ten institutions for IT& Engineering, needs to enhance the awareness of the importance of emotional intelligence. As to the specific measures, the following methods are very useful and practical. Firstly, reinforce the dissemination of the importance intelligence. In all likelihood, the reason to the lack of awareness of emotional intelligence is people’s lack of related knowledge. The Importance of Self-control(Cause and effect essay)
The importance of self-control
There’s no doubt that self-control is an important trait for a fulfilling life, because one of the functions of self- control is to assist people to resist temptation and hold to their belief. It is universally acknowledged that the world outside is a world that is full of temptations and traps. Every day, people are surrounded with the temptation of reputation, the temptation of money or even temptation of sex. It is enormously hard to say “no” to these temptations. In history, many eminent and excellent talents knelt down at the foot of temptation and kowtowed to it humbly. When they stooped to temptation, they ruined their life, which could have been fulfilling originally .The reason for all these tragedies was the loss of self-control. People who have strong self-control are able to determinedly reject crime and degeneration, because they mean crime and degeneration rather than live a fulfilling life. Therefore, self-control can rescue people from falling into the abyss behind temptation and pull them back to fulfilling life. Moreover, self-control can help to keep one’s mind clear and sharp. No matter how troublesome and messy the situation he or she is in, it will contribute a lot to a fulfilling life. In conclusion, self-control is an important trait for a fulfilling life.
Movie Review
Movie Review of “Rain Man”
Personally, I think “Rain Man” is a poignant, profound and powerful masterpiece because it contains outstanding shooting staff, complex and touching plot .
In this movie, director Barry Levinson as well as his actors Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise really endeavoured to show their audiences a masterwork, and they did it. In order to make an impressive performance, Dustin Hoffman even spent several months to connect with autistic patients. On account of their tremendous effort and a touching and profound plot, “Rain Man” won the Academy honours for four awards, including best movie and best actor and so on.
Charlie is a retailer in Los Angeles, living on selling cars. After his father’s death, Charlie returns to his childhood home to collect his father's inherence, only to find out that virtually all of his dad's $3,000,000 estate was left for another person. During his investigation, Charlie discoverd that the person who received the poverty was actually his autistic brother Raymond. To his surprise, he has never heard such a brother before. For the purpose of attaining half of his father’s estate which he thinks he deserves, Charlie determines to take his brother away and finally have custody over him. However, along their journey back to Los Angeles, Charlie is gradually influenced by Raymond and finally starts to accept and love his brother.
Personally, I think the reason why “Rain Man” won the Academy award was not only the excellent performance made by Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise, but also the profound and intense discussion about the relationship between love and money. Nowadays, along with the rapid development of technology and people’s life standard, people are pursuing money with an unprecedented desire. In order to make more money, people work hard from dawn to dusk. To make things worse, sometimes, people even neglect their most valuable things, for example, their love to the people around. In this movie, ultimately, the transition of Charlie’s attitude towards his brother is a convincing and impressive demonstration of the significance of kinship. Love is actually more significant than anything else in the world. Giving and receiving love are the sources of force that sustains the existence of our human beings. No one can live without love.
Due to the outstanding shooting staff, complex and touching plot and profound meaning of the film, I think people cannot afford to miss this masterwork. It is worthwhile to watch!

Comparison and contrast essay
It is universally acknowledged that both intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence are vital to the development of an undergraduate. They both guarantee the success of undergraduates for the duration of receiving their tertiary education. However, as to specific function and impact, intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence share evident distinctions clearly. Intellectual intelligence, which represents the ability to learn, understand and think in a logical way about things, mostly contributes to the academic achievement of an undergraduate. Students who are endowed with high intellectual intelligence are capable of handling their study easily and appropriately.
Moreover, intellectual intelligence enables them to absorb and digest new knowledge more efficiently. In contrast, emotional intelligence assists undergraduates in absolutely different ways. Instead of lending a hand to them in academic realm, emotional intelligence benefits them in their daily life. Living in university, undergraduates need to deal with numerous things other than study, which needs emotional intelligence to play an important part. Emotional intelligence helps undergraduate to develop interpersonal skills in order to have harmonious relationship with people around. This will provide undergraduates with a stable and happy living environment which prevents them from being disturbed and distracted by other issues that may badly impact their study badly. Therefore, nobody is able to accomplish any achievement with without either of them. They supplement each other and mutually lead undergraduate towards success
